Cynthia Alcivar is a clinical psychologist with a strong academic background and extensive professional experience in mental health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), Ecuador, and a Master’s in Affective Disorders from King’s College London (KCL), UK.
With experience in both in-person and online therapy, Cynthia has worked in diverse settings, adapting to each patient’s unique needs while ensuring a safe and confidential space. She follows an integrative therapeutic approach, incorporating three evidence-based modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps individuals identify and modify negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors, making it effective for anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Particularly beneficial for those experiencing intense emotions, such as individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). This approach focuses on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and improving interpersonal relationships.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and emotions rather than resisting them, promoting a values-based life approach. It is especially effective for stress, anxiety, and self-compassion.
By integrating these therapeutic techniques, Cynthia aims to empower individuals with practical skills to better manage their emotions and behaviors, ultimately helping them lead lives aligned with their values and goals.
